News Release January 11, 2021

The Spotlight Community Theatre Board of Directors wish to update you on our status during the ongoing pandemic conditions.

Having to cancel all events and close our doors to the public has been devastating. Like most other theatre groups, we depend on our performances to carry us from month to month. Our board members have jumped into action and have come up with some exciting ways to get through this.

We recently released an audio book of the Complete Story of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This is the full oration of the original book written in 1900 by Frank Baum and beautifully performed by a full cast of local actors. It is currently available on CDs and soon you will be able to download it from our Facebook page and our website. (see links below) The sales of this will go directly to paying rent, insurance, and utility expenses that happen whether the doors are open or not.

We have some other things in the works as well; an audio radio show production of Sherlock Holmes and more audio books are planned for release in the near future. We will soon begin our membership drive and encourage our patrons to purchase gift certificates now that can be used for future productions.

We will also continue our outreach to our elderly patrons by providing recorded radio shows at no charge for them to enjoy at local nursing facilities.

We want everyone to know that we appreciate the money that has been donated to help keep us afloat. A huge shout out to the City of Stayton as they have blessed us with COVID relief funding, The Stayton Sublimity Chamber partnered with The Stayton Rotary Club to produce the Covid-18 Business fund, Staytonevents.com for donating advertising space, and to Beverly Wilson whose determination and relentless force to keep this theatre going has done just that.
