BECOME A MEMBER OF SPOTLIGHT COMMUNITY THEATRE!
Aumsville Community Theatre is now doing business as Spotlight Community Theatre. We provide a live theatre experience for Stayton, Aumsville, Sublimity and the surrounding areas. We work hard to support a community of creative people who love to participate in the joy of live theatre (stage plays, murder mysteries, and staged radio shows) as actors, crew, and audience. We involve all ages; in the past few years we had cast members ranging from 6 to 85 years old. In a time where the arts are struggling, we feel it is important to continue to provide these much-needed services to our community.
Ticket sales only cover a portion of the expenses of a theatre. We pay rent and utilities year-round for the new location on 3rd Street in Stayton (opening this Fall), royalties to the publishing companies for each performance of a play (more for musicals), materials and construction costs to build sets and costumes, as well as other fees such as insurance, music licensing and more.
Please consider becoming a member of the Aumsville Community Theatre. We are a 501c3 organization and your membership/donation is 100% tax deductible. Membership includes the following benefits: your name listed in our theatre and in our playbills, invitations to our yearly awards and new season unveiling, and our undying thanks.

Productions
Spotlight Community Theatre usually has four main stage productions throughout the year. A Spotlight main stage production consists of straight plays and musicals (comedy, drama, children’s) produced from a written book or script. The main stage production consists of planning, rehearsal, and presentation to a live or virtual audience.
Straight Plays
Spotlight Community Theatre usually has four main stage productions throughout the year. Each season we present either a straight play or a musical. A straight play is a piece of theatre that relies on spoken dialogue and stage action. These productions require dedicated actors, stagehands, directors, and many others to create a beautiful piece of art the community can enjoy. Each straight play takes approximately eight weeks to rehearse and 2-3 weekends to perform.
Musicals
Spotlight Community Theatre usually has four main stage productions throughout the year. Each season we present either a straight play or a musical. A musical is a piece of theatre that relies on spoken dialogue, singing, dancing, and stage action to explain the story and move the play along. These productions require dedicated actors, stagehands, directors, and many others to create a beautiful piece of art the community can enjoy. Each musical takes approximately 10-12 weeks to rehearse and 2-3 weekends to perform.
Act on Radio - Staged Radio Drama
Our Staged Radio Dramas are live staged performances that are recorded and then played on Local Radio Stations KMUZ 100.7 FM and/or 88.5 FM both and KYAC 94.9 FM. Actors don't need to memorize their lines and instead read from a script. These shows are smaller productions, but make a big impact on keeping the theatre running.

Staged Audio Dramas
These aren't your normal audio books. These are Staged Audio Dramas!
Spotlight Community Theatre needed to find a way to survive through the pandemic and these audio dramas are what was found.
Directors build an exceptional cast of characters and that cast uses voice acting to bring the words in a book alive. Each CD is narrated and artfully acted.
Playwright Spotlight
Playwright Spotlight gives local playwrights an opportunity to see their works performed. This is a way for Spotlight Community Theatre to give back to artists that have been so diligent in their pursuit.

Murder Mysteries
Murder Mysteries are unscripted interactive performances featuring local catering. These smaller productions are a lot of work for the Spotlight Community Theatre, and one of the most requested functions.
Special Events
You never know what special events the theatre might be involved in, so stay tuned!
